中国科学院长沙大地构造研究所近年来从事我国大地构造与成矿学的研究，积累了一定数量的成果，现选编15篇论文汇集成《中国科学院长沙大地构造研究所集刊》第1号。
陈国达教授于本集论述了多因复成矿床的成矿理论，并从地壳演化规律阐述其形成机理。其他各篇论文就是以地洼学说及其成矿学为指导，论述鄂、湘、赣、院、滇等地区的大地构造基本特征和对成矿的控制以及石油、煤、铁、钨、铀等矿产的分布规律。
