新英格兰造山带位于东澳造山带最东部，包括新南威尔士州大部分地区和昆士兰州南部Texas地块，其中黑斯廷斯地块位于新英格兰造山带南部，受二叠纪以前构造变形的强烈改造，可划分为北黑斯廷斯地块和南黑斯廷斯地块两部分。本书通过研究区断裂构造运动学分析，结合重力和磁力蠕虫等模拟分析，重点研究了北黑斯廷斯地块内断裂系统的组成和活动期次，并详细讨论了其地质构造变形的演化过程。研究认为，北黑斯廷斯地块内共有5期断裂活动，其中两期主要的断裂系统与石炭纪早期北黑斯廷斯地块的滑移与旋转有关，个别右旋走滑断裂系统则形成于较晚的晚三叠世。北黑斯廷斯地块断裂系统的运动学解析为该区金属矿床的勘探与预测提供了重要的基础地质信息。
